HAA GRANTS: We put member donations into action at Haldane!
HAA makes grants to fund arts initiatives and actions that advance our mission -- to support and promote the performing, visual, media, and literary arts at Haldane. Scroll down to find handy links to our grant application and report forms!
HAA grants put your membership dollars and generous donations into action each year to support the arts experience at Haldane! Grant applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and anyone can apply. Our grant committee evaluates applications and makes recommendations to our board. Our board votes on all grant-related items at quarterly meetings. Urgent applications requiring a quick turnaround can be considered by the committee and HAA board.
Note for the 2020-21 school year: This is our third year of fund-raising and grant-making. Most HAA grants will continue to be modest (up to $1,000). Given the unprecedented needs due to COVID-19, we are considering grant requests of all kinds, including virtual arts experiences, and arts equipment or supplies.
Note to Applicants: If you were awarded grant funds in 2019-20, you must submit a grant report before you can apply again. Thank you!

HAA Members Make Art Happen at Haldane! Examples of HAA's grants in action. . .
BAND. In 2020-21, Haldane music faculty and students are finding creative ways to adapt to COVID-19 challenges -- and HAA is helping them! Below: Concert band students use the new portable folding stools HAA provided for outdoor band rehearsals!
MUSIC and MUSIC HISTORY. Your HAA memberships and donations supported K-5 Black History Month assemblies in 2018 and 2019, featuring music by composers of color. Violinist, composer, and music educator Gwen Laster brought her New MUSE4tet to perform for Haldane elementary students and staff. HAA thanks parent-members Mark Robohm and Stephanie Doucette who were instrumental in helping to initiate the first assembly, and to Gwen and the New MUSE4tet for bringing their music to Haldane! The first assembly program was jointly funded by Haldane Arts Alliance and the Haldane School Foundation .
BAND AND CHORUS. Your HAA membership dollars and donations helped send middle school band and chorus members to the national "Music in the Parks" day in 2019 for the very first time in Haldane history! Band and chorus members traveled to Massachusetts to perform for adjudicators and received two trophies. As part of this special day, students visited Six Flags New England along with hundreds of other music students from schools throughout the region. Haldane Arts Alliance was pleased to partner with Haldane School Foundation in supporting this fabulous field trip. (HAA's grant helped purchase those groovy tie-dyed T-shirts celebrating music at Haldane!) Thanks to Ms. Stein and Ms. Frabotta for making it all happen!
LITERARY ARTS. Your HAA membership and donations helped support LETTERS FROM THE 845, a spring 2019 poetry reading featuring works by high school artists. This annual event took place at Chapel Restoration, overlooking the Hudson River. HAA thanks student writers for sharing their work, and also Dr. Eric Richter for organizing this fantastic program. And: A big shout-out to Haldane School Foundation for supporting poet Jeff McDaniel's work with student poets at Haldane for the past six years!
